Intimate River Embrace

"You say you'v planted in rocks with only one hand
But are you strong enough to understand
What our ancesters took for granted
From, "Anthem For a Women, (The Slasheaters Song)

This photo was taken by Peg Hilliard the last day of the Colorado Renascence Fair in 1998. I placed the whole "fountain" around the sculpture in one day. As a performance piece I called it, "On The Wings Of A Butterfly." Although I changed everything when I made the actual fountain, I kept many of the themes I developed that day. The ocean, the mountains, the idea of wings, and that the materials that compose the fountain were mostly off set from the bodies, giving them room to breath. It was a fun, hectic and wild day that left a few people thinking I had gone totally mad. But that's an artist's creative, manic, prerogative, as long as he pulls it back together. In truth I combined the waves of, "Pegasus and the Nymph" with the wings and rocky woods of this version.
