I love Sarah's voice. In the above poster I have woven many of the responses to my question on the
Sarah Brightman Forum about how would a person describe Sarah's voice.
"Inspirational, angelic, caring, something to turn to when having writers block," so were
but a few of the many words members of SB2K used when I asked them how they would describe
Sarah Brightman's voice.
Many of those wonderful words I was able to incorporate into the above
poster I call, "The Voice Of The New Millennium." One of my favorite responses came from Tausha. I turned her response into
the graphic on the right I call, "Tausha describing Sarah,s Voice." The feeling of the forum members, might be summed up in Le Art's words, "with other singers,
male or female, it may be one or maybe even a few songs that can do (all the above,) but with Sarah, there are so many!
There were many approaches to describing SB's voice, one unique way was Kaharmony's statement, "that in the opera world,
voices have often been described in colors… Sarah?… black or white is definitely out, red doesn't quite fit either…I'm
leaning more toward pastels." In a totally different way, Chastity described Sarah's voice as, "intimate and evocative,
otherworldly, but at the same time, as if she's singing for you and only you.. Revitalizing, relaxing; clear and pure in one song, yet throaty and sensual in the next". " Other members of this forum added their
own voices in unison with words like powerful, mystical and sultry. It reminded me, in ways, of the last moments of Sarah's La Luna concert, when the audience rose
from their seats, and in one voice, chanted, "Sarah, Sarah," over and over.
My friend Amlet, who I also call Amber, didn't respond to the question, because Sarah's voice left her
wanting for words, if you may.
Sometimes I create my most interesting work, just playing around on the computer.
The other night, I created the sculptural graphic on the left, while trying to create glass beads for another project.
Wanting for a name for this abstract design, I've decided to call it. "Amber describing Sarah's voice." Maybe there is something about the rare, pure and ancient qualities
of "amber" that metaphorically represents Sarah's voice.
There is a sculptural quality to this design that I like. It could be used as a two inch logo in the upper left hand corner of a page, or it could
be used as a "blueprint" for a eight foot tall outdoor stone sculpture. August always represents sculpture to me, because my home town of Loveland, CO. hosts the largest
outdoor sculpture in the U.S. in August, of which I have done nine.
The graphic on the left graces the cover of my 2001 Sarah Fan Calendar that I am working on. Like all of the graphic files developed for my calendar project, it started out as
many different files.
An image of Sarah from her web site, a glass bead I created one night that I then overlaid her image on, and a file I called, "beautiful texture 21" that I used
and played around with as a background. This calendar project certainly was not designed from the top down, with a given style, image size, fonts etc, but rather each month grew
organically out of material I had at hand. This gives it a lack of a professional look, but it was an interesting exploration of styles, and taught me a lot.
The graphic at the top of this page describing Sarah's voice, is used as the central image for the March calendar, because Sarah is returning to the U.S. in March.
The one with Tausha's butterfly description, ends up being used again for June, because as a little boy, I chased butterflies all June while school was out.
If anyone should want an enlarged .jpg file of my, "Voice of the Millennium," graphic, or any other poster or calendar of mine, let me know,
I can e-mail them to you. You will find my e-mail address at the bottom of each of the pages
on this web site.
As a computer graphic artist, I like to create images that are beautiful, or ones that just interest me, and keep them around as potential backgrounds for new and unusual graphic images.
The background on the poster of Tausha describing Sarah's voice was created over a year ago, one day while listening to a CD sample of the music of Brandon McDonnell.
This background evolved from the one I call, "Faluvial Music," over the course of a few hours. I went back in and faded in the image
of Sarah, and then created the lettering as a separate layer on top of that.
As an artist, Sarah Brightman always is fun to listen to or have her music on when I am working on my ceramic work. She also has the subtle influence of a "muse" on me when I am struggling with my larger than
life-size figurative sculpture/fountain "Intimate River" that I am forever working on, (see image on right,) .
(For more photos of this larger than life size sculpture, click on the "Clay & Sculpture Exhibit," link below.) As a fountain, it is set to run 3000 gph or more of water, it sounds like a true little river.
